Barriers to cardiac rehabilitation in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Kardiovaskulární onemocnění způsobují značnou sociální i ekonomickou zátěž zdravotního systému, ale také samotných pacientů a jejich rodin. Možností, jak tuto zátěž mírnit, je účinný model sekundární prevence – kardiovaskulární rehabilitace (KR). Přes všechny benefity a nákladovou efektivitu je utilizace KR celosvětově nedostatečná. „Cardiac Rehabilitation Barriers Scale“ představuje validní možnost komplexního hodnocení překážek KR, přičemž ty v České republice (resp. celé Střední Evropě) dosud nebyly adekvátně popsány.

Abstract:

Cardiovascular diseases cause a significant social and economic burden on the health system, but also on the patients and their families. An effective model of secondary prevention – cardiac rehabilitation (CR) – is an option to reduce this burden. Despite all the benefits and cost-effectiveness, the utilization of CR is insufficient worldwide. The "Cardiac Rehabilitation Barriers Scale" represents a valid option for a complex evaluation of the barriers to CR, while those in the Czech Republic (or the whole of Central Europe) have not yet been adequately described.
