Depression in clients of a home for the elderly

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá depresí u klientů domova pro seniory. Hlavním cílem práce je zjistit, jaký je výskyt deprese u klientů Domova pro seniory Boskovice. Zabývá se také souvislostmi mezi výskytem deprese a věkem klientů, zapojováním se do skupinových aktivit, délkou pobytu v domově pro seniory a soběstačností klientů. Práce je členěna na teoretickou a výzkumnou část a je strukturována do čtyř kapitol. Teoretická část vymezuje stárnutí a stáří jako přirozenou etapu lidského života, systém sociálních služeb a problematiku deprese ve vyšším věku. Rekapituluje také výsledky předešlých výzkumů. Empirická část vymezuje výzkumný problém a cíl práce, výzkumný soubor, metodologický rámec a představuje výsledky výzkumu.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with depression in nursing home clients. Its main objective is to monitor the incidence of depression among the clients of Boskovice Retirement Home. It also investigates the relationship between the incidence of depression in these clients, their age, impact of any participation in group activities, length of stay in the nursing home and the self-sufficiency of the clients. The work is divided into a theoretical and a research part and structured into four chapters. The theoretical part defines growing old and an old age as a natural stage of life. It also covers social service system, the issue of old age depression and summarizes the results of previous research. The empirical section defines the research problem and the objective, the research group, the methodological framework and presents research results.
