Bank Evaluation Approach to Credit Risk

Abstract:

Předmětem bakalářské práce je seznámit se s riziky, která ohrožují bankovní podnikání s tím, že práce je zaměřena zejména na úvěrové riziko, které je z hlediska hlavní činnosti bank, tedy úvěrování, nejvýznamnější. Práce je primárně rozdělena do čtyř částí. V první kapitole jsou popsána jednotlivá bankovní rizika. Druhá kapitola je již zaměřena na úvěrové riziko, tj. jeho složky a členění a zejména celé řízení úvěrového rizika. Z hlediska úvěrového rizika jsou zde popsány i typy úvěrů, které klient může získat a jako poslední část této kapitoly jsou zde popsány úvěrové postupy, jimiž se banka řídí při žádosti o úvěr. Třetí kapitola je zaměřena na kapitálovou přiměřenost, tedy na regulaci finančních rizik a na koncepty Basilejského výboru. Poslední kapitola práce pojednává o následcích špatného řízení těchto rizik, kde je pojednáváno o hypoteční krizi v USA, jak banky dříve přistupovaly k riziku a jak k němu přistupují dnes.

Abstract:

The subject of this bachelor thesis is to study the risks jeopardizing banking business with the major focus on credit risk, which is the most significant with regard to the main activity of banks – lending. The work is primarily divided into four parts. The first chapter describes the individual bank risk. The second chapter is focused on credit risk, i.e. its components, structure and in particular the management of credit risk. In terms of credit risk there are described the types of loans that the client can get and the last part of this chapter describes lending procedures, which banks follow in bank loan applications. The third chapter is focused on capital adequacy, i.e. the regulation of financial risks and the concepts of the Basel Committee. The last chapter of the thesis deals with the consequences of mismanagement of these risks, in which there are discussed the mortgage crisis in the USA, how banks previously acceded to risk and how they approach it today.
