Analysis of return on a renewable energy source investment of a manufacturing company in the context of current European investment support policy

Abstract:

Cílem práce je s využitím obecných, dále také pro energetický sektor specifických ukazatelů efektivnosti investic ekonomicky posoudit výhodnost investice do fotovoltaické elektrárny konkrétní společnosti. V práci je zohledněn vliv hlavních výnosových a nákladových položek ovlivňujících výhodnost investice, zároveň jsou zohledněny současné dotační možnosti podniku. Přínosem práce je posouzení výhodnosti investice do instalace specifikované fotovoltaické elektrárny v podmínkách České republiky, včetně vyhodnocení dopadu dotační podpory na efektivnost investice. V práci je uvažována hypotéza, že doba návratnosti investice společnosti do fotovoltaické elektrárny bez uvažování dotace je nižší než 10 let. Tato hypotéza je v diskusní části vyhodnocena na základě výstupů ekonomické analýzy. Výstupy ekonomické analýzy jsou v diskusní části konfrontovány s aktuální odbornou literaturou zabývající se problematikou obnovitelných zdrojů energie a s nimi souvisejících investic.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the economic return on a photovoltaic system investment of a specific company by utilizing generally applied as well as industry-specific indicators of investment effectiveness. The thesis considers the key revenue and cost items influencing investment effectiveness while also considering the subsidies currently available to the company. The thesis contributes to the current body of knowledge by assessing the effectiveness of a photovoltaic system investment in Czechia-specific conditions, including the assessment of economic impact of the subsidy scheme currently in place. The hypothesis is that the payback period of photovoltaic system unsubsidized investment is shorter than 10 years. The hypothesis is evaluated based on the key findings of the economic analysis in the discussion part of the thesis. The findings of the thesis are further confronted with the current knowledge base related to renewable energy sources and investments in such technologies.
