The meaning of spirituality at social workers

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce pojednává o úloze spirituality v životě sociálních pracovníků. Lechner považuje spiritualitu za jednu ze základních profesních kompetencí sociálního pracovníka.1 Práce se dělí na část teoretickou a výzkumnou. Teoretická část práce se skládá ze tří kapitol. První kapitola se zaměřuje na spiritualitu a její teoretické vymezení. Dále se věnuje celoživotnímu vývoji spirituality, spirituální dimenzi osobnosti a v závěru první kapitoly se zmiňuji o nové spiritualitě a spirituálních potřebách. Druhá kapitola teoretické části se pak dotýká vymezení sociální práce jako profese s ohledem na historický kontext a hodnotovou orientaci, snaží se o nastínění problematiky spirituality v sociální práci a krátce obrací svou pozornost na profesní kompetence sociálního pracovníka. Ve třetí kapitole se zabývám vybranými tématy spirituality, které vymezuji jako kategorie spirituálního rozvoje z pozice sociálního pracovníka a klienta sociálních služeb. Ve výzkumné části prezentuji cíle, metody a výsledky kvantitativně vedeného výzkumu, který byl proveden se 100 sociálními pracovníky, kteří jsou zaměstnáni v zařízeních poskytujících sociální služby. Jedním z cílů bylo zjistit, zda existují statisticky významné rozdíly v připisovaném významu spirituality vzhledem k věku, pohlaví, vzdělání, formě instituce a víry. Byly zmapovány vzájemné korelace mezi spiritualitou, životním smyslem a životní spokojeností u sociálních pracovníků. Dílčím cílem bylo rovněž zjistit, zda existují statisticky významné rozdíly vzhledem k připisovanému významu spirituality u vybrané cílové skupiny. V poslední části diplomové práce se věnuji diskuzi, kde shrnuji výsledky zjištěné výzkumem.

Abstract:

The thesis is dealing with the role of spirituality in lives of social workers. Spirituality is considered to be one of the basic professional competencies of a social worker. The work is divided into theoretical and experimental part. Theoretical part is composed of three chapters. The first chapter is focusing spirituality and its theoretical definition. Then it deals with the lifetime development of spirituality, spiritual dimension of personality and in the end there is mentioned new spirituality and spiritual needs. Second chapter of the theoretical part is touching the definition of social work as a profession regarding the historical context and value orientation. It is also showing adumbration of dilema of spirituality at social work and turns briefly to professional competencies of a social worker. The third chapter is dealing with chosen themes of spirituality that are specified like categories of spiritual development from the position of a social worker and the position of a client in social service. The experimental part presents the goals, methods and findings of the quantitative research that was undertaken with 100 social workers who were employed in facilities offering social sevices. One of the goals was to find out if there exit any statistical significant differencies in ascribing meaning of spirituality with regard to the age, sex, form of the institution and belief. There were mapped reciprocal correlations among spirituality, sense of life and life satisfaction at social workers. Partial goal was also to find out if there exit any statistical significant differencies with regard to ascribing meaning of spirituality at chosen target group of our research. Finally in the end of the thesis there is a discussion where are gathering all the findings of the research. Keywords: spirituality,
