Dance and Movement Therapy with Seniors

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je vliv tanečně-pohybové terapie na kvalitu života seniorů v domovech pro seniory. Součástí bakalářské práce je teoretická i praktická část. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na popis jednotlivých témat tak, aby byla empirické část čtenáři více přiblížená. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda má terapie tancem pozitivní vliv na kvalitu života seniorů v domovech pro seniory. Ve výzkumné části jsem používala komparaci, analýzu a syntézu již provedených studií. V rámci všech čtyř použitých studií se prokázalo signifikantní zlepšení v tématech, které jdou ruku v ruce s kvalitou života seniorů. Jedná se o funkční stav a fyzické zdraví, exekutivní funkce, kognitivní schopnosti, soběstačnost, subjektivní posouzení zdraví, snížení intenzity bolesti, snížení deprese, zmírnění stresu a pozitivní vliv na celkovou náladu účastníků. Jelikož se dokázalo prokázat příznivý efekt taneční terapie, mohou výsledky sloužit jako doporučení pro domovy seniorů za účelem zlepšení kvality život seniorů v těchto službách.

Abstract:

The theme of the bachelor thesis is influence of dance and movement therapy on the quality of life in the homes of the elderly people. The bachelor thesis consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part focuses on description of various topics so that empiric part could be more understandable to people. The goal of this thesis is to find out if the dance therapy has positive influence on the senior's quality of life in the homes of the elderly people. In the empirical part I used comparison, analysis, and synthesis of already finished studies. In all four studies used, there has been demonstrated significant improvements in topics that go hand in hand with the quality of life of the elderly. For example, the functional status and physical health, executive function, cognitive abilities, self-sufficiency, subjective assessment of health, reduction of pain intensity, reduction of depression, relief of stress and a positive effect on the overall mood. Because the beneficial effect of the dance therapy was proven, the results can serve as recommendation for purpose of improving the quality of life in homes of the elderly people.
