Conceptualization and application of multicultural education

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá objasněním a aplikací multikulturní výchovy. Celá práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. První z nich tvoří teoretický rámec celé práce; její kapitoly vysvětlují klíčové pojmy. První kapitola souvisí s kulturou, která je pilířem multikulturní výchovy. Dále se také zabývá kulturními odlišnostmi. V návaznosti na kulturní odlišnosti rozebírá méně oblíbené pojmy ve společnosti, které však s multikulturní výchovou souvisí. Jsou to pojmy rasa a rasismus. Následuje kapitola o minoritních skupinách ve společnosti a poté kapitola o etnicitě a její identifikaci. Následující kapitola teoretické části je spojena s pojmem multikulturalismus. Poslední z kapitol se zabývá přímo multikulturní výchovou a jejím ukotvením ve vzdělávání. Druhá část textu je výzkumná a didaktická. Za prvé popisuje a hodnotí průběh vyučování, kde byla multikulturní výchova aplikována do školní praxe. Za druhé seznamuje čtenáře s průběhem a výsledky výzkumu, ve kterém je zásadní testování studentů. Cílem diplomové práce, a především její praktické části, je zjistit, zda mají studenti vybrané soukromé střední školy povědomí o pojmech multikulturalismus a multikulturní výchova ze škol základních, a také to, jak tyto pojmy vnímají.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the clarification and application of multicultural education. The entire work is divided into two parts. The first forms the theoretical frameworks of the whole work; its chapters explain the key concepts. The first chapter relates to a culture that is a pillar of multicultural education. It also looks at cultural differences. Following cultural differences, he discusses less popular concepts in society, but related to multicultural education. It's the notions of race and racism. The following is a chapter on minority groups in society, followed by a chapter on ethnicity and its identification. The following chapter of the theoretical section is linked to the notion of multiculturalism. The last of the chapters deals directly with multicultural education and its anchoring in education. The second part of the text is research and didactic. First, it describes and evaluates the course of teaching, where multicultural education has been applied to school practices. Second, it introduces readers to the progress and results of research in which student testing is essential. The aim of the thesis, and above all the practical part of it, is to find out whether students at a selected private secondary school have an awareness of the concepts of multiculturalism and multicultural education from primary schools, as well as how they perceive these concepts.
