Image of retirement homes - full-valued or "the last" thinkable alternative in the old age? /A manager in social services as the factor of possible change/

Abstract:

Diplomová práce má za cíl zmapovat s využitím kvantitativního výzkumu současnou image domovů pro seniory a nastínit možnosti jeho změny prostřednictvím konkrétních aktivit vedoucího pracovníka v sociálních službách. Těžištěm práce je předpoklad, že domovy pro seniory podceňují image: jejich posláním není dosahovat zisku, navíc poptávka po této sociální službě jednoznačně převyšuje nabídku a právě proto domovy pro seniory nepřipisují marketingu a image stěžejní význam. Práce upozorňuje management domovů pro seniory na skutečnost, že image je nespornou a neoddělitelnou součástí sociální služby, kterou je třeba budovat, posilovat a požadovaným směrem ovlivňovat. K tomu účelu mohou sloužit dotazníky mapující image a jiné formy zpětné vazby, které nejsou v domovech pro seniory realizovány. Přínos práce spočívá ve formulaci doporučení a konkrétních návrhů změn vedoucích k budování požadovaného image.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to map the current image of retirement homes with the use of quantitative research and outline some options for its change through actual activities of managers in social services. The key supposition of this thesis is that retirement homes undervalue their image: their job is not to make profit. Besides, there is a positive excess demand over supply of this social service and that is precisely why the retirement homes do not attach any key importance to marketing and image. This thesis draws attention of retirement homes managers to the fact that the image is an unquestionable and inseparable part of social services and as such it is vitally important to build, boost and shape it in the desired direction. To serve this purpose, questionnaires mapping image and other forms of feedback which are not realized in retirement homes can be used. The contribution of this thesis lies in presenting the recommendations and actual suggestions for changes leading to the building of a desired image.
