Postponement of Compulsory School Attendance from The Perspective of Teachers of Kindergartens

Abstract:

Tématem předložené bakalářské práce je problematika odkladů povinné školní docházky z pohledu pedagogů mateřských škol na Českolipsku. Cílem bakalářské práce bylo zjistit příčiny a okolnosti odkladu povinné školní docházky u dětí a zmapovat používané metody pro posuzování školní zralosti v mateřských školách na Českolipsku. Práci tvořily dvě stěžejní oblasti. Jednalo se o část teoretickou, která pomocí zpracování a prezentace odborných zdrojů popisovala a objasňovala pojmy související s vývojem dítěte v předškolním období a odkladem povinné školní docházky. Praktická část zjišťovala pomocí dotazníků distribuovaných mezi 40 pedagogů mateřských škol na Českolipsku příčiny a okolnosti odkladů povinné školní docházky a metody posuzování školní zralosti v mateřských školách. Výsledky ukázaly, že nejčastější příčinou odkladů povinné školní docházky u dětí na Českolipsku je celková nezralost dítěte a nejčastěji používanou metodou k posouzení školní zralosti v mateřské škole je pozorování. Zjištění vyústila v konkrétní navrhovaná opatření v oblasti prevence odkladů povinné školní docházky formou besed s odborníky pořádaných mateřskou školou pro pedagogy i pro rodiče a doporučení komplexní diagnostiky školní zralosti v mateřských školách. Za největší přínos práce vzhledem k řešené problematice bylo možné považovat zjištění, že odklady povinné školní docházky i posouzení školní zralosti v mateřské škole je významným problémem, kterým je třeba se zabývat.

Abstract:

The presented bachelor thesis focused on the issue of postponement of the beginning of compulsory school attendance from the educational personnel's view at kindergartens across the Ceska Lipa region. The thesis aimed at identifying reasons and conditions for postponement in order to chart methods employed to measure abilities of children upon entering formal education at kindergartens across the Ceska Lipa region. The thesis consisted of two key areas. Utilizing and presenting materials from expert sources, the theoretical part described and clarified terminology connected to development of a child in a preschool period and compulsory school attendance postponement. The practical part identified reasons and conditions for compulsory school attendance postponement and measuring abilities of children upon entering formal education in kindergartens with questionnaires distributed among 40 educational personnel in kindergartens across the Ceska Lipa region. The results showed the overall lack of a child's ability to enter formal education being the most frequent cause of school attendance postponement in the Ceska Lipa region. Putting the child under observation has been identified as the most common method to measure the ability to enter formal education. Based on the search results, specific measures were proposed to deal with school attendance postponement. They include talks with specialists organized by kindergartens for both educational personnel and parents and recommending a comprehensive diagnostics of children's ability to enter a formal education in kindergartens. The thesis discovered that both compulsory school attendance postponement and assessment of children's ability to enter a formal education are a major problem that needs to be dealt with. This could be considered the main contribution of this work to the subject matter.
