Specific learning difficulties among university students

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se pomocí explorativního kombinovaného výzkumného designu s důrazem na kvalitativní analýzu dat soustředí na komplexní zmapování obrazu specifických vývojových poruch učení u vybraného vzorku vysokoškolských studentů. Na základě výsledků diagnostických vyšetření 17 respondentů a realizace polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s 10 respondenty se zaměřuje na analýzu obtíží a osobních zkušeností v souvislosti se specifickými poruchami učení. Práce si klade za cíl zmapovat také podpůrné faktory, které studenti využívají ke kompenzaci obtíží. Z analýzy výsledků vyplývá, že vysokoškolští studenti se specifickými poruchami učení se s obtížemi potýkají stále, i když v nižší subjektivně pociťované míře než dříve. Současné projevy se promítají především do oblasti pracovního tempa a souvisejí s obtížemi v oblasti čtení a psaní, v jazykových dovednostech i v oblasti zrakového a sluchového vnímání. Studie také v souvislosti se zmiňovanými projevy poukazuje na sociální a emocionální obtíže a negativní zkušenosti respondentů. Nižší míru v současnosti prožívaných obtížích dávají respondenti do souvislosti s celou řadou podpůrných faktorů, mezi které patří vlastní vytvořené kompenzační strategie, osobnostní charakteristiky nebo podpora okolí.

Abstract:

Using an exploratory combined research design with an emphasis on qualitative data ana-lysis, the presented diploma thesis focuses on a comprehensive mapping of the image of specific developmental learning disabilities in a selected sample of university students. Based on the results of diagnostic examinations of 17 respondents and the realization of semi-structured interviews with 10 respondents, it focuses on the analysis of difficulties and personal experiences in connection with specific learning disabilities. The work also aims to map the supporting factors that students use to compensate for difficulties. The analysis of the results shows that university students with specific learning disabilities still face difficulties, although to a lower subjectively felt degree than before. Current studies are primarily reflected in the area of work pace and are related to difficulties in the area of reading and writing, in language skills and in the area of visual and auditory perception. The study also points to the social and emotional difficulties and negative experiences of the respondents in connection with the mentioned studies. The respon-dents put the lower level of experienced difficulties in connection with a whole range of supporting factors, which include their own created compensation strategies, personality characteristics or support from the environment.
