The Tradition of Infusion of Foreign Classic Literature into Russian Literature, Lyman Frank Baum – Alexander Melentyevich Volkov.

Abstract:

Tématem diplomové práce je tradice „vrůstání“ zahraniční klasiky do ruské literatury na příkladu originální pohádky L. F. Bauma a jeho překladu ruského autora A. M. Volkova. Cílem diplomové práce je dokázat s pomocí srovnávací analýzy těchto pohádek, že ruský překlad je samostatné dílo, v němž byl použit syžet a téma originálu. Diplomovou práci je možné rozdělit do dvou částí: teoretickou část a rozbor s následnou analýzou jako část praktickou. První část se zabývá teorií překladu, pohádkou jako teoretickým a překladatelským problémem, dětskou literaturou v Rusku s důrazem na vliv zahraniční klasiky a také životem a dílem amerického spisovatele L. F. Bauma a ruského autora A. M. Volkova. Praktickou část tvoří srovnávací tabulka rozdílů pohádek L. F. Bauma a A. M. Volkova s následnou analýzou.

Abstract:

The topic of this thesis is the tradition of „infusion“ of the foreign classic literature into the russian literature, which will be demonstrated on the unusual fairy-tale by L.F.Baum and its russian translation by A.M.Volkov. The aim of this work is to do a comparative analysis of the aforementioned versions of the tale and thus prove that its russian translation is not a mere copy of the original but an individual piece of work that only used the plot and theme of the original. This diploma thesis can be divided into two parts, the theoretical and the practical part. The practical part contains a text analysis and a discussion over the analysis. The first part deals with the theory of translation, and especially with the phenomenon of fairy-tale as being a translational challenge. Further the first part deals with children´s literature in Russia in general and tries to find more examples of foreign influence. As the last, but not least the theoretical part introduces us to the biographies of american author L. F. Baum as well as the russian author A. M. Volkov. The subsequent practical part deals with a comparative study of both texts and its analysis.
