Civic education through original didactic game

Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem „Výuka výchovy k občanství prostřednictvím autorské didaktické hry“ se v úvodu zabývá krátkým shrnutím dosavadního poznání v oblasti použití didaktických her ve výuce a také obsahuje teoretickou oporu pro tvorbu autorské didaktické hry v této práci popsané. Jedná se však pouze o prototyp hry pokrývající osm vyučovacích hodin výchovy k občanství v šesté třídě. Právě vytvoření prototypu hry a otestování jejího potenciálu pro podnícení nárustu motivace ke studiu výchovy k občanství u žáků bylo stěžejním cílem této práce. V nejobsáhlejší části práce je kompletně popsáno a zdokumentováno fungování celé navržené didaktické hry včetně jejích možností v případě, že by byla vytvořena plná verze. Tato hra má sloužit jako alternativa ke klasické výuce a v plné verzi by kompletně pokryla výuku výchovy k občanství od šestého do devátého ročníku základního vzdělávání. Jedná se o týmovou deskovou hru probíhající přímo v hodině. Ta prostřednictvím příběhu provází žáky aktivitami spojenými s tématy výchovy k občanství zábavnou formou. V závěru práce se čtenář může seznámit s výsledky úspěšného testování zkušební verze hry v šestém ročníku a také s tím, jaké slabiny se při testování hry objevily a jak je lze kompenzovat nebo odstranit.

Abstract:

Thesis titled Civic education through original didactic game summarizes actual knowledge in field of didactic game use in teaching in its introduction. It also includes theory background for creating of the original didactic game that is present in this thesis. However, it is solely a prototype demonstrating eight lessons of civics in sixth grade. The focus of this thesis was the prototype game creating and testing of its potential for inciting motivation of pupils towards studying civics. Complete description and function of the didactic game, including its potential should full version of it be created, is present in the most voluminous middle part of this thesis. The game itself should serve a purpose of an alternative to traditional teaching methods and in its full version would completely cover civics teaching through sixth to ninth grade of primary education. It is a team-based board game taking place in the lessons themselves. Through its story, the game guides pupils through topics affiliated with civics in more entertaining form. In its conclusion, the reader can find out the results of successful testing of a sample of this game in a sixth grade and what drawbacks were detected during the test run and how to compensate or obviate them.
