Research on the use of ICT by teachers at a vocational school in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá využíváním informačních a komunikačních technologií učiteli na odborné střední škole. Teoretická část obsahuje vymezení pojmu informační a komunikační technologie, které bývá často nejasné. Dále je uvedena problematika implementace ICT do vzdělávání. Nejprve v rovině vývoje významných konceptů. Důraz je v ní kladen především na koncept e-learningu, který v současné době reflektuje nejmodernější trendy v oblasti využití ICT ve vzdělávání. Následně v rovině mezinárodních a národních strategických dokumentů. Jádro teoretické části je tvořeno významnými vzdělávacími teoriemi, které se v souvislosti s ICT objevují, a konkrétním vztahem - učitel a ICT. Pozornost je zaměřena zejména na teorii tzv. technologicko-didaktických znalostí obsahu Mishry a Koehlera a některé způsoby využití ICT učiteli jako podpory výuky. Empirická část poté doplňuje tuto teoretickou část o výsledky kvalitativního výzkumu, který byl zaměřen na to, jakým způsobem učitelé využívají ICT ve své každodenní práci na střední odborné škole. Cílem této práce nebylo jen odhalení, porozumění a popsání jevů, které s touto problematikou souvisí, ale též přispět k diskusi a tu zároveň rozšířit o realitu panující na odborné střední škole.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the use of information and communication technologies by teachers at the vocational school. The theoretic part includes the determination of the term „Information and communication technologies. This term can be often indistinct. The next part concerns the problems of ICT implementation to the education. First it is focused on the level of development of important concepts. Above all an accent is set on the concept of e-learning which reflects todays the most modern tendencies of apllication the ICT in the field of the education. Second it dedicates the level of international and national strategic documents. An attention is focused especially on the theory so called „Technological pedagogical content knowledge“ by Mishra and Koehler and also on some ways of ICT usage by teachers as an educational support. The centre of the theoretical part are created by important education theories related to ICT development and by the relationship between teachers and the ICT. The empirical part of this work completes the theoretical part with results of qualitative research. The qualitative reseach was focused on the way how teachers use the ICT for their everyday work at the vocational school. The goal of this thesis wasn't only to detect, understand and interpret of phenomena related to problems, but also contributes to the discussion and its extends of view of vocational school reality at the same time.
