Ideology and history and geography textbooks during the period of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na vliv nacistické ideologie v učebnicích dějepisu a zeměpisu za Protektorátu Čechy a Morava. Cílem práce je popsání působení nacistické ideologie v učebnicích dějepisu a zeměpisu, a to prostřednictvím analýzy učebnic a jejich komparací se školními osnovami ze 30. let 20. století. Při analýze práce vychází z odborné literatury, která poskytuje teoretické ukotvení a kontext pro porozumění zkoumaných fenoménů. Práce zároveň charakterizuje české školství za Protektorátu Čechy a Morava s důrazem na vývoj předmětů dějepisu a zeměpisu. Práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol. První kapitola se věnuje českému školství za Protektorátu Čechy a Morava. Druhá kapitola rozebírá nacistickou ideologii, její vědecký původ, jednotlivé znaky a jejich užití např. v německé čítance pro děti. Třetí kapitola se věnuje základní charakteristice učebnic, porovnání obsahu učebnic s osnovami ze 30. let, užití jednotlivých znaků nacistické ideologie v nich a užitím obrazových, grafových a tabulkových příloh v učebnicích. Práce poskytla komplexní pohled na způsob, jakým byla nacistická ideologie zakomponována do dvou analyzovaných učebnic vydaných v období Protektorátu Čechy a Morava. Přestože se ideologický obsah vyskytoval v obou učebnicích, jeho podoba a způsob prezentace se výrazně lišily v závislosti na vyučovacím předmětu.

Abstract:

This bachelor´s thesis focuses on the influence of nazi ideology in history and geography textbooks published during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. The aim of the thesis is to describe how nazi ideology was embedded in these textbooks through a detailed analysis of their content and a comparison with school curricula from the 1930s. The analysis is grounded in relevant scholarly literature, which provides the theoretical framework and context necessary for understanding the examined phenomena. Additionally, the thesis outlines the structure of the Czech educational systhem during the Protectorate, with an emphasis on the development of history and geography as school subjects. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter explores the czech educational systhem during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. The seconds chapter examines nazi ideology, its scientific background, its key features, and how these were applied for example in a german reader for children. The third chapter provides a basic overview of the selected textbooks, compares their content with the curricula from the 1930s, and analyzes how specific elements of nazi ideology were implented, including the use of visual, graphic, and tabular supplements. The thesis offers a comprehensive insight into the manner in which nazi ideology was incorporated into two textbooks published during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Although both textbooks contain ideological content, its form and presentation differ significantly depending on the school subject.
