Anxiety, self-efficacy and school success in pupils with specific learning disabilities

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo zjistit rozdíly ve školní úspěšnosti, úzkostnosti a self-efficacy mezi žáky se specifickými poruchami učení a žáky bez specifických poruch učení. Dalším cílem bylo prozkoumat vztahy mezi těmito psychologickými konstrukty a zda jsou tyto vztahy jiné pro žáky se specifickými poruchami učení a žáky bez specifických poruch učení. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 149 respondentů, z toho bylo 83 osob (55,7 %) s diagnózou specifické poruchy učení a 66 osob (44,3 %) bez diagnózy specifické poruchy učení. Dotazníkové šetření bylo provedeno online formou, pro zjištění self-efficacy byl použit dotazník SEQ-C, pro zjištění úzkostnosti byla využita testová baterie ŠAD. Bylo zjištěno, že žáci bez SPU jsou ve škole úspěšnější, dosahují vyšší úrovně celkového self-efficacy, akademického self-efficacy, sociálního self-efficacy a také vyšší úrovně úzkostnosti. U žáků se specifickými poruchami učení školní úspěšnost negativně koreluje s akademickým self-efficacy (r = -0,445) a celkovým self-efficacy (r = -0,225). U žáků bez specifických poruch učení byla nalezena negativní korelace mezi školní úspěšností a akademickým self-efficacy (r = -0,513), celkovým self-efficacy (r = -0,437) a emocionálním self-efficacy (r = -0,369). Pozitivní korelace byla pak u žáků bez specifických poruch učení zjištěna mezi školní úspěšností a úzkostností (r = 0,255). Výsledky této práce mohou představovat zajímavé poznatky pro oblast školní a pedagogické psychologie.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis was to examine the differences in academic achievement, anxiety and self-efficacy between pupils with specific learning disabilities and pupils without specific learning disabilities. Another aim was to examine the relations between these psychological constructs and whether these relations are different for students with specific learning disabilities and students without specific learning disabilities. The research sample consisted of 149 respondents, of which 83 were (55,7 %) with a diagnosis of a specific learning disability and 66 (44,3 %) without a diagnosis of a specific learning disability. The questionnaire survey was conducted online, the SEQ-C questionnaire was used to determine self-efficacy, and the ŠAD test battery was used to determine anxiety. Pupils without SPU were found to be more successful at school, achieving higher levels of total self-efficacy, academic self-efficacy, social self-efficacy and also higher levels of anxiety. For pupils with specific learning disabilities, school success negatively correlates with academic self-efficacy (r = - 0,445) and total self-efficacy (r = -0,225). For pupils without specific learning disabilities, a negative correlation was found between school success and academic self-efficacy (r = -0,513), total self-efficacy (r = -0,437) and emotional self-efficacy (r = -0,369), a positive correlation was found between school success and anxiety (r = 0,255). The results of this work may represent interesting knowledge for the field of educational psychology.
