The role of a foster parent in substitute family care system in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na systém náhradní rodinné péče. Cílem bylo popsat pěstounskou péči se zaměřením na osobu pěstouna. Teoretická část přibližuje systém náhradní rodinné péče, historii a legislativní ukotvení. Konkrétněji se však zaměřuje na pěstounství a na náležitosti, které vyplývají z role pěstouna. Poslední kapitola teoretické části také shrnuje systém financování pěstounství. Výzkumné šetření je realizováno metodou rozhovoru s aktivními pěstouny. Zjišťujeme, jak nahlížejí na svou roli pěstouna v systému náhradní rodinné péče. Otázky se vztahují k procesu zprostředkování pěstounské péče, k náležitostem vykonávání pěstounství, k názoru na finanční zabezpečení pěstounství a v neposlední řadě, ke spolupráci mezi pěstounem a sociálními pracovníky.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on the system of substitute family care. The aim was to describe foster care with a focus on the person of the foster parent. The theoretical part describes the system of a substitute family care, history and legislative anchoring. More specifically, however, it focuses on foster care and the essentials that result from the role of a foster parent. The last chapter of the theoretical part also summarizes the financing of the foster care system. The research investigation is using the method of an interview with active foster parents. We investigate how they view their role as a foster parent in the system of substitute family care. The questions relate to the process of obtaining a child, to the requirements of foster care, to the opinion on the financial security of foster care and, last but not least, to the cooperation between foster care and social workers.
