Career path of individuals with unfinished upper secondary education

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá profesní dráhou osob, které mají nedokončené vyšší sekundární vzdělání. Tyto osoby opustily z různých důvodů vzdělávací proces v jeho průběhu a na pracovní trh tak vstoupily pouze s dokončeným základním vzděláním, což může být v mnoha ohledech limitující. Práce je koncipována jako teoreticko-empirická. V teoretické části jsou objasněny klíčové pojmy tématu, a to profesní dráha, hodnota vzdělání, sekundární vzdělávání a specifika osob s nedokončeným vyšším sekundárním vzděláním v České republice. Empirická část je pojata jako kvalitativní výzkumné šetření, v němž byly využity hloubkové rozhovory s respondenty. Získaná data naplnila cíl práce, kterým bylo zjistit, jak osoby, které nedokončily své vyšší sekundární vzdělávání, reflektují svoji profesní dráhu. Zároveň nastínila subjektivní vnímání respondentů, vývoj jejich profesní dráhy a také bariéry, se kterými se museli potýkat.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is devoted to the career path of individuals who did not finish the upper secondary education. These people had not graduated for various reasons and the fact that they entered a labor market with their primary education only is challenging and often confining in many aspects. The diploma thesis consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part addresses key terms and comments on a career path, value of education, upper secondary education and moreover, the thesis display the situation of mentioned individuals in the Czech Republic. The empirical part deals with the research questions applied to the method of qualitative research composing of interview with respondents. The aim of the thesis is to determine how the individuals who had not finished the upper secondary education, manage to gain an access to their career path. Last but not least, the thesis mentions respondents’ views on the development of their career path with its eventual challenges and barriers they have to deal with.
